North Dakota

Safety Engineer

Location: Williston, ND

Description:

The Safety Engineer will plan, implement and oversee project safety, accident and fire protection programs in compliance with corporate safety program standards. This person will also perform all functions and responsibilities in partnership with the company’s culture, corporate vision, ethics and code of conduct.

Responsibilities/Functions

  • Address hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through safety management team and project supervisory personnel.
  • Coordinate First Aid/CPR training for employees.
  • Coordinate safety work assignments, personnel administration, and training.
  • Support corporate safety program by developing/conducting employee and subcontractor safety orientation training programs.
  • Plan and conduct effective safety meetings.
  • Conduct work area surveillance inspections, air sampling tests for confined space entry, property damage and personal injury investigations.
  • Document all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities.
  • Conduct and assist in accident analysis.
  • Track and log Safety Data Sheets.
  • Issue confined area entry and “hot work” permits as required.
  • Review documentation to insure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures and, where necessary, implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain all documentation related to safety training, personnel incidents, inspections, to include subcontractors.
  • Accompany all safety, health and/or insurance inspectors on walk through tours.
  • Ability to oversee, support and visit multiple projects as directed.
  • Act as a resource for matters of safety, health and environmental concerns.
  • Interface with state and local resources.
  • Responsible for continuously expanding and updating professional knowledge and honing skills in order to enhance individual and team innovation and productivity.
  • Assume additional assignments/tasks to answer unique needs of construction management team or Safety Manager.
  • Reports to Safety Manager.

Skills and Experience

  • Four year degree in safety related field preferred.
  • Three – five years construction safety and/or industrial safety experience.
  • Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and company regulations.
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills required.
  • Team orientated.
  • Well organized.
  • Passionate about safety and risk management.
  • Ability to lead by example.
  • OSHA 30 Certificate.
  • Clean driving record.
  • First Aid/CPR trained.

Superintendent

Rice Lake Construction Group is currently seeking experienced Superintendents to oversee both large and small projects in the Williston, ND region.  This individual will oversee construction of the project in the field, providing leadership to trade foreman and self-performed work as well as maintain quality and the highest regard for safety.  They will also work closely with the Project Manager to ensure timely completion and cost control of the project. Ideal candidates will have 5 plus years in commercial or heavy civil construction.
