Design & Build

What is design-build construction?

Design-build is a construction process where a single entity, known as the design-builder or design-build contractor, handles all design and construction aspects of the project. The design-builder is usually the general contractor.

The design-build method is used to minimize the project risk and to reduce the delivery schedule by overlapping the design and construction phase of a project.

As a design-build entity, Rice Lake Construction Group assumes full responsibility for the project while working with the owner as a partner, assuring clear communication, maximizing results and avoiding potential problems. The benefits of the design-build process include:

Communication

Rice Lake Construction Group is motivated to deliver high quality projects on time and within budget. Using the design-build method, Rice Lake is your single point of contact, making communication easy and allowing you to focus on the scope/needs of the project as well as timely decision making.

Saving time and money

Value engineering and constructability are continuously utilized during the design-build process to evaluate various construction methods, materials and equipment to make sure you are satisfied with the final product.

During a design-build project, design and construction efforts overlap, allowing construction to begin before final plans are complete, lowering costs and saving valuable time.

Early guarantee of construction costs

By simultaneously estimating design and construction costs before entering into a contract, Rice Lake Construction Group can accurately predict the costs for your complete project.

Improved risk management

Rice Lake Construction Group defines cost, schedule and quality early and clearly, making the responsibilities and risks appropriately balanced. Because you’re contracting with a single entity, multiple contract risk is eliminated.
